Unexpected events, such as floods, domestic issues, accidents and illness, can result in financial challenges. For Vanderbilt employees, the Employee Hardship Fund may be a valuable resource.

The fund helps full-time employees of Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center cover unexpected expenses due to a significant life event. The program is managed by Work/Life Connections-EAP, and each situation is reviewed anonymously by a committee. In 2017, 13 awards have been granted to VU employees along with 16 gift cards for purchasing groceries.

Vanderbilt community participation has always been key to the fund’s sustainability. You can help through the Kroger Community Rewards Program. The program allows shoppers to support the hardship fund at no extra cost to themselves and without sacrificing any in-store discounts or gas points. Last year, the rewards program provided nearly $2,000 to the fund.
