In the coming months, Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center are undergoing their largest business and system changes in decades. The Medical Center is migrating its electronic health records system to Epic in November, and the university is replacing its financial and HR systems with Oracle Cloud applications in January as part of the ongoing SkyVU project.
To support these efforts and to minimize risk, VU and VUMC executive leadership have instituted a technical change freeze from Oct. 1 to Feb. 28. This change freeze applies to the following activities for the university and VUMC communities:
- All hardware, operating system and software changes to data center and network infrastructure in a production environment
- Changes to any production application
Routine operations, such as security patching, required maintenance and repairs, will continue.
VU and VUMC have defined an exception approval process to allow for critical changes to occur during the five-month change freeze. For more information, email change.freeze@vanderbilt.edu.
