If you’ve registered to attend the Vanderbilt University tailgate this Saturday, Sept. 16, beginning at 3:30 p.m. and the Vanderbilt vs. Kansas State football game that follows at 6:30 p.m., you’ll want to pay close attention to the new SEC clear-bag policy.

The annual Vanderbilt University Employee Tailgate will be held at Recreation Field No. 2 and will feature food, games, music and fun. Remember to allow extra time to take your vendor giveaways from the tailgate back to your vehicle before you enter the stadium.

Vanderbilt Stadium policies

In compliance with the Southeastern Conference, Vanderbilt Stadium has a clear-bag policy for all home football games. In order to prevent the inconvenience of having to return prohibited items to your vehicle, we encourage you to consider this policy when choosing the items that you bring into the stadium.

Approved bags

  • Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
  • One-gallon, clear, re-sealable plastic storage bags
  • Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ with or without a handle or strap
  • Medically necessary items (after inspection at a designated location)

Prohibited bags Include (but are not limited to):

 

·      Purses

·      Backpacks

·      Diaper bags

·      Mesh bags

·      Tinted bags

·      Printed-pattern plastic bags

·      Cinch/drawstring bags

·      Briefcases

 

·      Coolers

·      Fanny packs

·      Luggage of any kind

·      Computer bags

·      Camera bags

·      Binocular cases

·      Personal seatbacks

·      Any bag larger than permissible size

Remember, previously reserved football tickets will be available for pick up at the pregame tailgate event only on the day of the event, Sept. 16 between 3:30 and 6 p.m.; there is no early pick up. Employees must present a Vanderbilt University ID to receive tickets. Any reserved tickets not claimed by 6:05 p.m. on Sept. 16 will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 6:05 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Vanderbilt University employees are encouraged to show their black and gold to receive a free ticket. Free tickets won’t be given to anyone wearing purple and white or the Kansas State University logo.

Free parking for the event will be available in the West Garage on Children’s Way. There will be no parking adjacent to the field.
