Jeffrey Palmucci, who has served as the interim Chief Operating Officer for Vanderbilt-Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital since April, has been named the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, effective Sept. 18.
Vanderbilt-Stallworth, which offers a full continuum of care for patients who suffer traumatic injuries, stroke and other serious conditions, is a joint venture between Vanderbilt and HealthSouth Corp., one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation services provider.
As CEO, Palmucci will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the nationally recognized rehabilitation facility, and will work closely with Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and HealthSouth leadership as well as with clinicians in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to ensure the hospital’s continued growth and success.
In his new role, Palmucci will report to C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health System Officer for VUMC.

Since 2010 Palmucci has served as administrative director of Operations for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Outpatient Imaging Services, Rehabilitation Services and Nutrition Services. In this role he was responsible for oversight of these services, including operations, budgeting, capital equipment, strategic planning, new business development, policy, safety and compliance. He also shared oversight of five Vanderbilt imaging center ventures for adult and pediatric patients.

The role they play in our organization is vital to our mission,” said Palmucci. “Working in conjunction with Dr. Jeff Johns, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation interim chair, our goal will be to provide a seamless pathway for Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital (VUAH) patients as they transition from acute care to inpatient rehabilitation, and to continue the exceptional care received during their stay at VUAH.”
