Mark L. Schoenfield, professor of English, is among 173 scholars, artists and scientists in the United States and Canada to be awarded a 2017 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship.

Assistant Professor of Cinema and Media Arts Jonathan Rattner’s film The Interior won the Michael Moore Award for Best Documentary at the 2017 Ann Arbor Film Festival.

Robert Barsky, professor of French and comparative literature, Jewish studies, law, English and European studies, won a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center fellowship in New York.

Elsa Filosa, assistant professor of Italian, won a Mellon Summer Institute fellowship for Italian paleography.

Marissa Davis, BA’17, and Ariana Yeatts-Lonske, BA’17, two Vanderbilt undergraduate creative writers, were awarded fellowships for the 2017 Bucknell Seminar for Undergraduate Poets at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

Lorrie Moore, Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of English, was named a 2017 fellow of the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers, New York Public Library.
