Vanderbilt will celebrate College Colors Day on Friday, Sept. 1, when faculty, staff and students don their black-and-gold apparel ahead of the Sept. 2 football season opener against Middle Tennessee.

In the lead up to College Colors Day, Commodore fans on campus and across the nation are encouraged to show their black and gold on social media for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including an all-expenses-paid trip to the College Football Playoff National Championship, scheduled for Jan. 8, 2018, in Atlanta.

Through Facebook frames, Snapchat filters, an Instagram style quiz and Twitter hashtags, fans can show off their school spirit and demonstrate to the world how enthusiastic Vanderbilt fans are. This year’s theme, “United We Fan,” highlights the emotional connection Commodore fans have not only with the university, but also with fellow fans when they see each other wearing the Vanderbilt name and colors, no matter the location.

Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 1, fans can visit www.CollegeColorsDay.com for 30 days of college gear giveaways and a chance to win prizes such as watches, tailgate games, hats and apparel. Fans also can register for the chance to win one of two all-expenses-paid trips to the College Football Playoff National Championship game in Atlanta. Game tickets will be provided by the College Football Playoff and Extra Yard for Teachers, the College Football Playoff’s primary charity partner, whose goal is to empower and honor the teachers that help student-athletes across the country realize their dream of attending college.

By sharing photos and stories across social media using #UnitedWeFan and #CollegeColors throughout the month of August, fans will have the chance to win brand-new gear. Beginning in late August, they will be able to add a custom Vanderbilt frame to their Facebook profile provided by the university’s official athletics website.

As the excitement builds closer to Sept. 1, professional athletes, models, broadcast hosts, music artists and other social media influencers will join fans in their social sharing of school pride. Last year’s College Colors Day featured more than 75 different personalities beaming with school spirit.
