CRP: Presentation on state health initiatives Aug. 4

Community Research Partners presents “Using Primary Prevention through Cross-Sector Collaboration to Drive Population Health” from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, in the 6th Floor Board Room, 2525 West End Ave. A light breakfast will be provided.

The guest presenter will be Leslie Meehan of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDOH) Office of Primary Prevention. The TDOH’s Primary Prevention Initiative enables all TDOH employees, no matter their role in the department, to be part of community partnerships that focus on primary prevention efforts across Tennessee. To date, more than 95 percent of the workforce in local public health departments have engaged in more than 2,000 Primary Prevention Initiatives.

You are invited to the Aug. 4 presentation, at which you will learn more about this and other primary prevention activities, such as the department’s built environment staff, funding opportunities to increase physical activity statewide, and the Tennessee Livability Collaborative—the state’s “health in all policies” approach to state government. This 10-agency member collaborative is one of only four examples of such an approach among state governments in the United States to improving population, environmental and economic health.

The presentation is sponsored by the Meharry–Vanderbilt Community Engaged Research Core. You may download a flier here: CRP Aug. 4 presentation
