MEDIA ADVISORY: Internship capstone presentations by Vanderbilt students

More than a dozen Vanderbilt HOD undergraduate interns will make presentations Thursday, July 27, on their learning and work experiences at the Nashville Zoo, Nashville Wine Auction, Republic Schools, Heritage Medical Associates, KIPP Elementary School, Goldner Associates and more.

Vanderbilt undergraduates who major in Human and Organizational Development, one of the university’s most diverse and inventive majors, participate in a semester-long capstone internship required for graduation.

The HOD major, which is offered by Vanderbilt’s Peabody College of education and human development, is designed to prepare students for a successful career focused on finding solutions to human problems in organizations and communities. Their final capstone presentations creatively demonstrate how they have put into practice their classroom knowledge.

About 200 HOD interns work in organizations all over the world each academic year—from Deloitte in Chicago to the United States Embassy in Santiago, Chile, to Oscar de la Renta fashion house in New York City. A large majority of the HOD internships, however, take place right here in Nashville, and many of these students choose to live and work in Nashville after graduation.

Members of the press are invited to attend the latest round of capstone presentations and learn more about this remarkable internship program.
