Undergraduates from around the country will present their research conducted at Vanderbilt this summer during the Vanderbilt Summer Science Academy’s 15th annual Student Research Symposium. The event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Wond’ry.

Vanderbilt University has a longstanding tradition of training undergraduates in the biomedical sciences through summer research programs. In 2003, the Office of Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET) established the Vanderbilt Summer Science Academy to bring together all undergraduates conducting biomedical research at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. VSSA is hosting approximately 80 students during summer 2017 from Vanderbilt and institutions across the country.

The Summer Research Symposium, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 3, serves as the VSSA’s culminating event. The schedule of events is as follows:

  • Poster session one: 10 a.m.–noon
  • Research seminar: Noon–1 p.m.
  • Poster session two: 1:30–3:30 p.m.
  • Research talks: 3:30–4:30 p.m.
  • Award ceremony: 4:30–5 p.m.

Light refreshments will be served. The 15th annual VSSA Student Research Symposium is sponsored by the Office of Biomedical Research Education and Training.
