Joseph Little, M.D., ’77, BA ’72, left, and Irwin Venick, J.D., ’75, right, shown here with Robert Miller, M.D., recently spoke about their experience with the Vanderbilt Student Health Coalition, an initiative of Vanderbilt medical, nursing, law and undergraduate students that began in 1969. The coalition worked with local leaders in rural, medically underserved communities in Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia to build networks of primary care clinics and to address health-related issues. On May 19-20, members of the coalition returned to Nashville for a reunion and to preview a digital archive of historical documents, photographs, recordings and interviews that is housed at the Southern Historical Collection of the University of North Carolina in cooperation with the Eskind Biomedical Library.
