The Meharry-Vanderbilt Community Engaged Research Core is offering research ethics training for community organizations that are interested in conducting research involving the populations they serve, as well as for community organizations and individuals who are interested in partnering with academic researchers in conducting research involving humans.
The training session, scheduled from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, will provide an overview of the history of research ethics and harmful studies that led to the creation of today’s rules and principles for ethical research. Topics will include the basic requirements that govern the ethical conduct of research, the role of the Institutional Review Board, and expectations of anyone serving as a member of a research team.
This training is accepted by the Vanderbilt and Meharry Institutional Review Boards in lieu of the online CITI training for community members who are part of a research team.
The training will take place at the Mental Health Cooperative, 205 Cumberland Bend (Metro Center), Suite 109-A.
