The Nashville Bar Association has recognized Vice Chancellor, General Counsel and University Secretary Audrey J. Anderson and Vanderbilt University with its highest honor, the Leadership Award, for leadership in diversity. The award is given for diversity in hiring practices and other programs. Anderson and Vanderbilt were recognized at the NBA’s Law Day 2017 luncheon held at the Downtown Renaissance Hotel May 5.
The 2017 Law Day event, “The 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy,” featured a keynote address by Metro Juvenile Court Judge Sheila Calloway, JD’94, adjunct professor of law at Vanderbilt. In addition, the bar association presented its annual Norman Award to Metro Public Defender Dawn Deaner and its Liberty Bell Award to the Hon. Todd Campbell, BA’78, who served as a United States district judge for the Middle District of Tennessee prior to his retirement in December 2016.
