Vanderbilt (VU and VUMC, collaboratively) may submit one proposal for the Edward Mallinckrodt Foundation Grant Program. The mission of the foundation is to support early stage investigators engaged in basic biomedical research that has the potential to significantly advance the understanding, diagnosis or treatment of disease. The grant provides up to a total of $180,000 over three years and indirect costs are not allowable, but salary support is acceptable. To be eligible, investigators must hold an M.D. and/or Ph.D., must be in their first to fourth year of a tenure-track position, and must not have current R01 funding.
Anyone interested in being considered as Vanderbilt’s potential nominee must submit the following (in PDF format) to LSO@vanderbilt.edu by 5 p.m. on June 6. Submissions should reference the program name in the subject line of the email.
- A brief (two-page maximum) research plan including summary budget;
- A brief statement of support from department chair/center director;
- A CV or NIH Biosketch
Once received, all proposals will be forwarded to an internal review committee that will choose the final candidate. The chosen candidate will submit a full proposal to the foundation by its Aug. 1 deadline.
