The Office of the Vice Provost for Learning and Residential Affairs presented awards to six students at the Solar Eclipse Competitions Celebration April 17 at the Wond’ry. The celebration represents one of many campus events centered around the total solar eclipse that will occur later this year on Aug. 21.
Three awards were presented to students who participated in “Obscura,” a competition hosted by the Department of Art. Students were encouraged to submit work inspired by the upcoming solar eclipse in any visual arts media. Award recipients include:
First place: Malina Halman

Second place: Matthew Thompson

Three students received awards for participating in “The Sun and the Moon: A Poetry and Flash Fiction Contest.” All Vanderbilt undergraduate students were encouraged to submit work for this competition, which was hosted by the Department of English. Award winners include:
