Symposium on modeling immunity set for April 27

The 2017 Vanderbilt Symposium on Modeling Immunity will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in room 1220 MRB III.

The 2017 Vanderbilt Symposium on Modeling Immunity will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in room 1220 MRB III.

The symposium, organized by the Vanderbilt Vaccine Center and the Vanderbilt Center for Structural Biology, is free and open to the Vanderbilt community.

Speakers and their topics include:

• Sarel Fleishman, Ph.D., Weizmann Institute of Science, “Atomic design of new antibodies guided by structure and sequence information from natural antibodies;”

• Frank DiMaio, Ph.D., University of Washington, “Protein structure determination to atomic accuracy from cryoEM density using Rosetta;”

• Steven Kleinstein, Ph.D., Yale School of Medicine, “Systems of immunology of influenza infection and vaccination;” and

• Andrew Ward, Ph.D., The Scripps Research Institute, “CryoEM as a tool to evaluate immune responses to vaccine candidates.”

The symposium will be hosted by James Crowe Jr., M.D., the Ann Scott Carell Professor and director of the Vanderbilt Vaccine Center, and Jens Meiler, Ph.D., professor of Chemistry and Pharmacology. Meiler will also speak during the symposium.
