Vanderbilt University’s Employee Appreciation is partnering with Transit Now to promote Transit Month in April. Each year, Transit Now and partners host transit events throughout the month to promote the use of mass transit. April 7 will be Vanderbilt University’s “Take the Bus to Work Day.”
Vanderbilt’s “Ride to Work” program fully covers the cost for full-time Vanderbilt employees and graduate students to ride MTA transit buses to and from campus each day. The university also offers discounts for RTA buses and the Music City Star commuter train. To take advantage of the MTA program, just swipe your Vanderbilt University ID when boarding the bus. Vanderbilt encourages those who have not used mass transit before to give it a try on April 7 and throughout the month of April. A citywide effort is in place to increase riders of transit services in hopes of decreasing traffic congestion and improving the quality of the commute for metropolitan and suburban drivers. If you’d like to give transit a try, visit the Nashville MTA Maps and Schedules webpage to find your route, or visit the Trip Planner.
Also available are two mobile apps that help make planning your bus rider easier: the Music City Trans Tracker, a comprehensive app which includes the trip planner and route schedule; and the Nashville Transit App, which provides real-time information about when the next bus will arrive at your stop.
If you ride the bus on or around April 7, make your way over to Human Resources on the Baker Building’s 10th floor to pick up a “I took the bus to work today” button provided by HR Employee Appreciation. The buttons will be available April 4-6.
