Vanderbilt University celebrates and explores the accomplishments and stories of Women in STEM fields through a lecture and panel discussion. Keynote speaker and author, Rachel Swaby presents her lecture “From the Center of the Earth to the Stars: The Unknown History of Women in Science”, highlighting influential women from her book Headstrong: 52 Women Who Changed Science. This lecture is followed by an engaging panel discussion that seeks to define and challenge barriers that cause women to be underrepresented in STEM fields.
