Topic: “Ghost Mining Towns in Mongolia and Appalachia (USA): What Went Wrong, and Can We Prevent it from Happening in the Future?”

Khaliungoo Ganbat has worked with mining communities in Mongolia and in the United States. Some of them prosper, while others become ghost towns after the closure of the mines due to lack of other industry or economic opportunity. Ganbat will explore what went wrong and if the problem can be prevented in newly established mining communities in Mongolia.
