Jacob Hacker of Yale will discuss the issues with Vanderbilt professors

Six days after the swearing in of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States, Yale University’s Jacob Hacker will join three Vanderbilt University professors to discuss the election that brought Trump to power and its political, economic and social consequences.
The Jan. 26 roundtable discussion will feature Hacker, the Stanley B. Resor Professor of Political Science and one of the country’s leading experts on U.S. health and social policy. He is the author of American Amnesia: How the War on Government Led Us to Forget What Made America Prosper.
Joining him on the panel will be Vanderbilt’s Sharece Thrower, assistant professor of political science; Marc Hetherington, professor of political science; and Efrén Pérez, associate professor of political science.
The program gets underway at 5 p.m. on the second floor of the Ingram Commons Center, with a reception immediately before at 4:30 p.m.
The event, organized by the Scholars Strategy Network and co-sponsored by the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions, the Department of Political Science, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons, is free and the public is invited.
