The lecture, “Brain Injury in Premature Birth and Developmental Delay,” will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Room 241, One Magnolia Center at VKC.

Gallo is also director of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center and director of the Postdoctoral Training Program in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research with the Children’s National Health System.

His laboratory studies neural progenitor development as well as the response to injury in the immature and adult brain. The lab focuses on questions of oligodendrocyte development and myelination, as well as neuron-glia communication in the Central Nervous System (CNS) during development and after injury. The CNS consists of neurons, which carry nerve impulses, and glial cells, which provide multiple functions to both the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
