Fall 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of the Nichols Humanitarian Fund at Vanderbilt University. The Office of Active Citizenship and Service, in collaboration with The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons, will celebrate this milestone and recognize founders Edward and Janice Nichols at the annual Nichols Humanitarian Fund Reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. The event will be held in The Commons Center’s Multipurpose Room.
Since the Nichols Humanitarian Fund was established in 2006, 261 scholarships have been awarded to Vanderbilt students enabling them to pursue humanitarian missions to virtually every part of the world. The fund provides companion funding to the Nichols-Chancellor’s Medal and encourages Vanderbilt students to become better citizens of the world and to broaden their thinking by volunteering for humanitarian efforts. The fund distributes awards based on merit and need to Vanderbilt students to pay for expenses related to their humanitarian activities.
Alumni recipients of Nichols Humanitarian Fund awards, faculty, campus administrators, and former fund managers will be in attendance.
This event is free and open to the public. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP to oacs@vanderbilt.edu.
