Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has been named among the top 100 large employers in the nation by Forbes Magazine.

On its 2016 list of America’s Best Employers, VUMC ranked No. 100.

Working with online statistics provider Statista, Forbes asked more than 30,000 U.S. workers employed by companies with more than 5,000 staff members to determine, on a scale of zero to 10, how likely they were to recommend their employer to someone else. Further, how did they feel about the other employers in their industry?

The resulting list included 500 employers across 25 industries, ranging from corporate giants to health systems and government agencies.

“We appreciate this affirmation from our own employees and others in our industry that we are deeply committed to our culture and efforts to sustain a supportive work environment” said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy CEO and Chief Clinical Officer of VUMC and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System.

“We have said many times, we aim to be an even better place for employees to work, for physicians to practice medicine and patients to receive care.”

VUMC is the largest employer of non-governmental employees in Tennessee, with more than 20,000 staff members, 2,000 of which are physicians, advanced practice nurses and scientists.
