Pamela F. Cipriano, president of the American Nurse Association, was the guest of honor at a reception hosted by the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing on April 5.
Linda Norman, Valere Potter Menefee Professor of Nursing and dean of VUSN, welcomed Cipriano and Sharon Adkins, executive director of the Tennessee Nurse Association, to the school. Guests included nurse leaders from Vanderbilt University Medical Center as well as VUSN alumni and faculty.
The event was held on the eve of the 2016 Tennessee Nurses Association Legislative Summit, an annual opportunity for nurses, faculty and students to discuss legislative priorities and health care policies and share them with elected officials.
Headquartered in Maryland, ANA is the nation’s largest nurses’ organization. Cipriano, its 35th president, is a nationally recognized advocate for health care quality. In 2015, she was named one of the “Top 100 People in Healthcare” and one of the “Top 25 Women in Healthcare,” both by Modern Healthcare magazine.
