As the culture of health care is impacted today by industry demands, regulatory mandates, government requirements and consumer expectations, everyone even remotely involved in the patient and caregiver experience must practice a universal and interpersonal standard of hospitality. The consequences of failing to do so are life-threatening to the patient and the provider.

Dr. Paul Sternberg Jr., assistant vice chancellor for adult health affairs, chief medical officer, and chief patient experience officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is headlining a conference on the importance of a hospitality culture in health care on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. in Sarratt Student Center, Rooms 325/327. Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 7:30. The cost is $10 per person, with a $30 maximum per organization attending.
The conference, which is sponsored by Hippo Solutions, will help attendees view the health care culture through the eyes of a consumer, caregiver and administrator through an interactive case study and panel discussion.
