As associate vice chancellor for Population Health, Posch’s focus will be the development and coordination of population health activities within VUMC and the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network (VHAN).

He will be responsible for ensuring the strategic direction of population health for VUMC and VHAN is communicated and coordinated with Vanderbilt Medical Group providers and VHAN-affiliated community providers to achieve high quality and efficient health services. Reporting to him in this effort will be the executive director of VHAN, the senior vice president for Population Health, a new chief clinical care officer for VHAN and a new medical director for VUMC Population Health.

Posch, who has served as CEO of the adult clinical enterprise since 2011, will continue to report to C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System in this new position, which becomes effective July 1.

“David has extensive experience within our health system, having held several key positions with broad administrative oversight over much of the clinical enterprise during more than 15 years of service to VUMC. He is a thoughtful, resourceful leader with a keen understanding of the strategic goals of our organization who is always thinking of ways to add value to the patient experience. He is the right individual to help design and implement our population-based health initiatives and I am very pleased he will be leading these efforts,” said Pinson.

Posch arrived at VUMC in 1999 as chief operating officer for the Vanderbilt Medical Group, having served in administrative roles at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans and with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and has been successively promoted to positions that include an increasing scope of responsibilities spanning VUMC’s clinical enterprise.

“The continued progress of VHAN as the Southeast’s dominant provider-organized network of physicians, hospitals and health systems, along with VUMC’s successful adaptation to population-based models for the delivery of health care services, are integral to our future. I look forward enthusiastically to this new role,” said Posch.

Posch holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Master of Organizational Development and Analysis from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
