Three from VUMC honored by NBJ for community health contributions

Three members of the Vanderbilt community were recently named to Nashville Business Journal’s 2015 class of Health Care Heroes.

Three members of the Vanderbilt community were recently named to Nashville Business Journal’s 2015 class of Health Care Heroes.

• Roy Elam III, M.D., associate professor of Medicine and medical director for the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Vanderbilt, received this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

• Mary Jo Gilmer, Ph.D., MSN, MBA, professor of Nursing, was inducted into the class in the Nurse category.

• Lola Chambless, M.D., assistant professor of Neurological Surgery, was inducted into the class in the Surgeon category.

The 29 members of this year’s class of Health Care Heroes were selected for their contributions to Nashville’s health community by a panel of industry judges.

The honorees will be recognized at an awards luncheon on May 20 at Omni Nashville Hotel and in a special publication in the May 22 print edition of the Nashville Business Journal.
