The board’s central role is maintaining standards for the practice of urology and certifying physicians in safe, efficient and ethical practices.

“It is a great honor to be elected to the Board of Urology,” Dmochowski said. “The board’s commitment to public safety and upholding the standards of urologic care are integral to maintaining public trust in the profession.”

Dmochowski, who is also a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, began his six-year term on the board in February.

“Being appointed as a trustee to the American Board of Urology is both a great honor and a great responsibility,” said David Penson, M.D., chair of Vanderbilt’s Department of Urologic Surgery. “Only two urologists are named to this position each year, and Roger is a great choice. We are all really proud of him.”
