Vanderbilt’s Osher Center for Integrative Medicine will offer an eight-week gentle yoga series for back care beginning March 5. The sessions will take place at the center, located at 3401 West End Ave., Suite 380.
This class will use gentle movement in combination with breath and visualization to:
- Relieve tension associated with back pain;
- Improve back flexibility; and
- Develop strength and support in the back.
The class is designed for all levels of yoga practitioners with chronic back pain. Beginners and individuals with other medical conditions are welcome.
The class will meet Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. March 5–April 23. Registration is recommended by Feb. 26. The cost is $96 for the eight-week series.

About the instructor
Amanda Wentworth, E-RYT 500 and CRYT, has created a lifetime of movement experience, beginning with gymnastics, modern dance and capoeira and more recently focusing on the healing energy of yoga therapeutics. Her most recent studies are in the Krishnamacharya lineage of TKV Desikachar. She is currently undertaking a three-year, 1,000-hour yoga therapy certification in this lineage through YATNA, an International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT) accredited program.
