Possible delays on West End this afternoon, evening

An increased number of pedestrians are expected to be in the West End area because of a number of events scheduled Thursday afternoon and early evening. Traffic congestion and delays along West End Avenue are possible.

Demonstrations in support of higher wages for fast-food workers are expected to take place at various locations between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 4. Protest organizers have indicated they will move on foot to multiple locations, several of which are in the Vanderbilt area. Faculty and staff may want to avoid the West End area if possible during these hours.

In addition, a Vanderbilt men’s basketball game tips off at 6 p.m. As with all sporting events on campus, Vanderbilt University police officers will be available to assist with directing traffic, but extra time should be allowed for movement because of the multiple events.
