Mary Ann Jessee, MSN, R.N.

This is a yearlong, structured professional development experience designed to prepare future high-level nursing education administrators.

Jessee is the director of VUSN’s Pre-Specialty program, which allows students with bachelor’s degrees in other fields to complete a generalist nursing program of study.

This portion of the MSN program prepares students to take the registered nurse licensure exam before beginning the specialty level of the Master of Science in Nursing curriculum.

“Mary Ann is passionate about nursing education, dedicated to nurturing her faculty and thinks outside the box,” said Linda Norman, DSN, R.N., Valere Potter Menefee Professor of Nursing and dean of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.

“This leadership program will further cultivate her, and I have no doubt that she will be a national leader in nursing education in the future.”

The program kicked off with a five-day session in Annapolis, Maryland, and will continue throughout the year matching fellows with peer/colleague coaches as well as a nurse leader mentor.

Jessee is one of 55 nurse leaders participating in the AACN program.
