Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society are now offering free makeover classes monthly for cancer patients.

The “Look Good…Feel Better” sessions are scheduled the third Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks. The next session will be Sept. 17.

The makeover classes are open to patients no matter where they are receiving their cancer care and are designed to help women maintain self-confidence during a stressful time.

During the program, experienced cosmetologists teach the women how to cope with the skin and hair issues that are side effects of chemotherapy and radiation and provide tips to help the women look their best.

This includes makeup application and how to create the appearance of eyebrows which often disappear during chemotherapy, along with other skincare advice.

The cosmetologists also teach participants how to create attractive and inexpensive head coverings.

Light refreshments are provided.

Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. To register for an upcoming class, call (800) 227-2345.

For local contact and questions, call Wendy Wood at the Vanderbilt Breast Center at 322-1585.
