Vanderbilt travelers explore history and wildlife in Southern Africa

With 23 trips to nearly every continent, the Vanderbilt Travel Program offers alumni a chance to see the globe with fellow Commodores. Twenty-two travelers recently returned from “Treasures of Southern Africa,” which featured historic Cape Town, the wildlife at Thornybrook Nature Reserve and Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls. The group also visited Robben Island, home to the prison that held Nelson Mandela and other political dissidents.

“Each day exceeded my expectations,” participant Janice Belm said. “The game drives were just awesome. Victoria Falls was beautiful. All accommodations were first class.”

The Vanderbilt Travel Program has many more destinations planned, including newly announced trips to Australia and Tanzania in the winter of 2015. Many of these opportunities sell out quickly, so be sure to contact the travel office soon to learn more.
