Walk 100 miles with the Mayor this summer

Mayor Karl Dean is inviting all Nashvillians to recruit friends, family, coworkers and neighbors to form groups and join him in walking 100 miles during the summer of 2014.

This citywide health challenge is designed to encourage people of all ages and fitness levels to get regular physical activity—walking is a free and easy way to do that!

Participating in the challenge is simple. Start by creating a profile and then logging your physical activity. Everyone who logs 100 miles of walking (or running) by the end of August 2014 will receive a free t-shirt that proudly boasts “I walked 100 miles with Nashville.”

A Walk 100 Miles finale celebration and festival will be held for participants to receive their shirts.

To meet your 100-mile goal, you can walk on your own or walk with a group.

Mayor Dean will hold “Walk with the Mayor” group walks every week (The first one is May 31 at 9 a.m. at Harpeth Valley Golf Center). The Mayor’s group walks will be held at parks and greenways in Davidson County, which have more than 190 miles of paved and unpaved trails.

Visit the community calendar for details on the Mayor’s upcoming walks.
