Minutes from the University Staff Advisory Council’s March 11 meeting are available online on the USAC website. (Meeting minutes are published approximately one week after the council convenes.)
Vice Chancellor for Administration Jerry Fife was the guest speaker for March. He discussed the far-reaching impact of the Division of Administration, which touches almost every part of campus.
Departments and offices under Fife’s purview include the Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt bookstore; Campus Dining; Campus Planning and Construction; the Vanderbilt Card Office; Contract and Grant Accounting; Environmental Health and Safety; Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action and Disability Services; Health and Wellness; Human Resources; Mail Services; Payroll; Plant Operations; Vanderbilt Printing Services; the Vanderbilt University Police Department; Real Estate Operations; and Traffic and Parking.
Fife, who came to Vanderbilt in 1998 and has served as vice chancellor for administration since 2009, plans to retire June 30. The University Staff Advisory Council honored him with the reading of a resolution thanking him for his years of service. USAC members also had the opportunity to pose for photos with “Flat Jerry,” a full-sized cardboard standup of Fife. These photos will be compiled in a book and presented to him.
Also during the meeting, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resource Officer Traci Nordberg reported on results of the recent Staff Community Survey and focus groups. She outlined key themes that emerged from the data gathering as well as some next steps to be taken in response.
