Next Safe Zone workshop is April 8

A Safe Zone Workshop will take place on Tuesday, April 8, 9 a.m.-noon in Sarratt 189. Safe Zone is run through Vanderbilt’s Office of LGBTQI Life, part of the Office of the Dean of Students.

Safe Zone Workshops are open to all Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff and Nashville community members.

The Safe Zone program aims to create a visible network of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) individuals and their allies by providing an avenue through which any member of the Vanderbilt Community can show their support. This program also creates an educational experience through the Safe Zone Workshop. The Safe Zone workshop is a three hour workshop that encourages student, faculty, and staff to explore their personal identities, cultural identities, privilege and what it means to be an Ally. After attending this workshop you have the choice to take a Safe Zone placard.

The visible Safe Zone placards extend a physical safe space for LGBTQI students and their allies throughout the campus. This program also creates ongoing educational experiences between Safe Zone members and the Vanderbilt community that encourage student, faculty and staff to explore cultural identity, values, and stereotypes in order to better understand how these issues impact the greater community.

Register for the April Safe Zone workshop.
