A Safe Zone workshop is scheduled from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in Sarratt Student Center, rooms 216/220. The workshop is open to Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff and members of the Nashville community.
Register for the workshop here.
The Safe Zone program aims to create a visible network of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex individuals and their allies by providing an avenue through which any member of the Vanderbilt community can show their support. The program also provides an educational experience through the Safe Zone workshop, a three-hour workshop that encourages students, faculty and staff to explore their personal and cultural identities, privilege and what it means to be an ally.
After attending the workshop, participants have the choice to take a Safe Zone placard. Displaying the placard extends the physical safe space for LGBTQI students and their allies throughout campus.
Safe Zone is a program of the Office of LGBTQI Life, part of the Office of the Dean of Students.
