On Jan. 1, 2014, hundreds of thousands of Tennesseans will become eligible for federally subsidized health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Vanderbilt University Medical Center is launching a campaign to increase patient awareness about the ACA and help patients enroll in subsidized insurance plans.

The VUMC campaign uses brochures and posters placed in adult and pediatric clinics and hospital admitting offices. Also, summary information about the ACA has been distributed to VUMC providers and staff to help them answer patients’ questions.

The VUMC campaign directs patients to the HealthCare.gov website for more information, and to the Health Insurance Marketplace Call Center at (800) 318-2596. VUMC is also making its financial counselors and patient representatives available to help patients with insurance enrollment. For this assistance, patients can call (615) 936-3938.
