The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award will be presented Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, to a faculty or staff member in the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, or Vanderbilt University Medical Center who emulates through his or her work the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This service can be in areas related to creating a better understanding between people of different cultures, working to enhance the economic and health status of individuals, or fostering a community at Vanderbilt symbolic of King’s teachings.
A committee of individuals from the School of Medicine, School of Nursing and medical center will serve as judges for the award, which will be presented at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture during Vanderbilt’s MLK Day celebration.
All nominations are due by Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, and must include a letter of recommendation from the nominating party as well as the nominee’s resume.
