Aquila Theatre Company will present Fahrenheit 451, a stage production of Ray Bradbury’s classic dystopian tale, at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in Vanderbilt’s Langford Auditorium as part of the Great Performances at Vanderbilt series.
The year 2013 marks the 60th anniversary of Bradbury’s visionary parable about a society gone awry, where literature and knowledge are at the edge of extinction. Considered a work of science fiction when it was first published in 1953, Fahrenheit 451 deals with issues of censorship, the effects of technology on society and literature, and the means by which knowledge is gained—issues that continue to resonate today. Aquila Theatre’s production is under the direction of Artistic Director Peter Meineck.
