Kirkland Hall has reopened following its evacuation and lockdown this morning.
At 7:41 a.m. Oct. 16, a community service officer making rounds noticed an envelope taped to the main door at Kirkland. The envelope was not present on previous rounds at 4:30 a.m. A handwritten message on the envelope raised suspicion. The building was evacuated and placed on lockdown, and then swept by canine units who found no cause for concern. Metro Nashville’s HazMat team was called and removed the envelope from the door, examined it and determined it did not pose a threat. The emergency situation was declared over shortly after 9:30 a.m. and the building was reopened. An investigation is underway to identify the person or persons involved.
