‘Team Vanderbilt’ new starting point for all walks, races

Nashville is home to hundreds of charitable walks, runs and rides. It often becomes overwhelming to decipher who, what, when, where and how many are taking place.

Nashville is home to hundreds of charitable walks, runs and rides. It often becomes overwhelming to decipher who, what, when, where and how many are taking place.
Welcome to Team Vanderbilt — a one-stop recruitment and information portal for events affiliated with Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Representatives from organizations will be on hand at a Team Vanderbilt kickoff on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from noon to 4 p.m. on the Medical Center Plaza as well as on Aug. 28 in the conference room at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks from 2-4 p.m.

Interested employees will have an opportunity to gather additional information as well as register for any Vanderbilt-affiliated event, including those involving the American Heart Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Susan G. Komen and many others.

“We are hoping people will come to our kickoff for Team Vanderbilt and learn how to sign up for the various events affiliated with Vanderbilt,” said Jennifer Rice, project coordinator for Marketing Outreach and Promotions.

“In the past, participants were accustomed to being contacted by each organization to participate, donate or volunteer.

“Now we have combined all of the walks, runs and rides in one place in an effort to make the process a little more simple,” Rice said.

The website will be updated throughout the year to include events as they are added to the list of affiliated activities. Go to www.teamvanderbilt.com to view the current opportunities to participate.

Those registering through the website will also be given a Team Vanderbilt T-shirt.

“The shirts are a wonderful example of our commitment, a show of support, a united front,” added Rice. “This new program is a way for Vanderbilt to support both the community and the health of our own employees. Plus to see a sea of Team Vanderbilt is amazing.”
