SENSE Theatre presents ‘Mergatroid and the Candy Store’ June 14-15

SENSE Theatre, the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and University School of Nashville will present Mergatroid and the Candy Store on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, at 7 p.m. in the USN Auditorium, located at 2000 Edgehill Ave. in Nashville.

Written by Blythe Corbett, assistant professor of psychiatry at Vanderbilt, and directed by Catherine Coke with music by Ed Bazel and Tammy Vice and lyrics by Corbett, Mergatroid and the Candy Store is the story of a curious boy who longs for a real friend. By escaping into tasty temptation, his imaginary friend makes him visible as his dream comes to life

The production is the capstone performance of the third annual SENSE Theatre Summer Camp, a two-week experience for youths with autism spectrum disorders and peer actors. Tickets are $5 for each evening and can be purchased in advance at the SENSE Theatre website.
