I met my fiancé, Morgan Shaw '07 '13, in the fall of '04 during an HOD 1200 class. She thinks we met the following fall in '05 when we studied abroad together in Florence, Italy.... But we both agree that our first date was sky diving in the Swiss alps followed by dinner where "we" ordered fondue (I hate fondue). I met Joe Folk at the ZBT House on Valentine's Day 1990. I was dating one of his "brothers" at the time (oops). I was hungry and my then boyfriend said, "Joe is taking people to Wendy's right now. Go with him." I didn't know who Joe was, but I went outside and looked for a car that was leaving. I saw it, opened the door and looked at him, and it felt like I had been hit in the head by lightening. I said, "I'm going to marry you." He said, "You're crazy." I said, "Maybe, but I AM going to marry you." He didn't even know my name or why I was getting in his car. We built a very good friendship over the next year, and then with blessings and good-will from my ex boyfriend we had our first date on January 21, 1991. We never looked back and got married November 25, 1995. We still have that cassette tape that was playing in the car the first night we met, and he still thinks I'm a little crazy.Angel Killen Folk

While I didn’t meet my wife at VU, a Vandy event brought us together for the first time. My sister, who attended another Middle Tennessee university, came to my VU graduation and then spent the night with one of her college friends near campus. I picked my sister up the next morning and briefly met her friend, my then-future wife, for the first time.
