An approaching storm accompanied by the possibility of tornadoes prompted the activation early Wednesday morning of the AlertVU system.
The activation revealed a procedural problem that prevented the vast majority of campus from receiving the severe weather notification. The cause of the failure is known, and solutions have been put in place.
The university continues to work toward ensuring a multilayered approach to emergency notification so that members of the Vanderbilt community receive such notifications in a timely manner.
