Mary Eleanor McClure Taylor, BA’52, of Nashville died Aug. 5, 2012. She had a 57-year career at Vanderbilt and was best known as the university receptionist in Kirkland Hall.
Former Chancellor Gordon Gee designated Kirkland’s reception area as Mary McClure Taylor Hall in her honor. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and was a faithful fan of Vanderbilt basketball.
Taylor is survived by her stepchildren, including Douglas Robinson Taylor, MEd’96, Robert C. Taylor Jr., BA’80, and Vernon Sharp Taylor, BA’83; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Wallace McClure, BA’41; nephews, including Christopher C. McClure III, BS’77, and Guy Wallace McClure, BA’80; nieces, including Christopher Wallace “Chrissie” McClure, MSN’96; and cousins, including Jennifer Dunn Stuhr, BA’08.
