Nominate medical faculty or staff for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award. The award is given to a faculty or staff member at the School of Medicine, School of Nursing or Vanderbilt University Medical Center who emulates the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through his or her work.

A nominee’s service can be in areas related to creating a better understanding between people of different cultures, working to enhance the economic and health status of individuals, and/or fostering a community at Vanderbilt symbolic of King’s teachings.

All nominations must include the nominee’s résumé as well as a letter of recommendation from the person nominating. Nominations are due Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. A committee of individuals from the School of Medicine, School of Nursing and VUMC will serve as judges. The award will be presented Monday, Jan. 21, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture.
