New York Mets pitcher and author R.A. Dickey and his wife Anne will host the event which raises funds to provide books for free to children in Middle Tennessee through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Music will be provided by Stony Run and Kaileigh Bullard, who stars on the new hit ABC show Nashville, as a band member for Hayden Panettiere’s character, Juliette Barnes.
Tickets are $100 per person.
A self-described “avid reader,” Dickey is coming off the success of his recent autobiography, Wherever I Wind Up: My Quest for Truth, Authenticity and the Perfect Knuckleball.
He has recently signed with Dial Press, a division of Penguin, to write three children’s books.
“Books are a passion of mine so I am thrilled to be involved with this event which helps pass the love of reading to young children throughout Middle Tennessee,” Dickey said.
“Books from Birth is a local treasure and it is essential that we continue to support its mission.”Books from Birth is best known for the Imagination Library program, which mails a new book to preschoolers once a month in Davidson, Sumner and Williamson Counties.
Loveless will provide the food and drink, and a silent auction and other fun activities will take
place at this casual and fun fundraiser that supports Books from Birth, a function of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
