All Commodore fans are encouraged to wear black on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, when Vanderbilt will kick off SEC football with its nationally televised game against South Carolina on ESPN.

This year Vanderbilt will observe College Colors Day, a national celebration of the traditions and spirit of intercollegiate athletics, in tandem with its opening football game at Vanderbilt Stadium.

“We are pleased that the Vanderbilt and South Carolina game was chosen as the College Colors Day kickoff game for SEC football,” said Maggie Harris, director for Vanderbilt’s Trademark Licensing Office. “We need all of our fans to support this initiative and wear black at our season opener.”
