The fall session of Saturday Academy at Vanderbilt for the Young will be held consecutive Saturdays from Sept. 22 through Oct. 27.
SAVY provides a dynamic, fast-paced curriculum experience to qualifying gifted children in kindergarten and grades 1–6. SAVY participants typically test at the 95th percentile and above on either verbal or nonverbal sections of academic achievement or ability tests. Vanderbilt faculty and master teachers trained in gifted education implement an accelerated, research-based curriculum for all SAVY courses.
Small classes are designed for the exceptionally talented and motivated learner. Current course offerings include “Elementary Engineering,” “Astronomy,” “Chemistry” and “Road to the White House.”
Students choose one course for the entire six-week program. Class size is limited to approximately 12 students for K-2 classes and approximately 15 students for grades 3-6.
SAVY courses will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on the six consecutive Saturdays from Sept. 22 to Oct. 27, 2012. All classes are held on Vanderbilt’s Peabody College campus.
