Pierce Avenue will be closed from Medical Center Drive to 23rd Avenue South from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 9.
The street closure is necessary for the resurfacing of roadway as part of the 33-bed addition to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. During the closure, ambulances can access the Children’s Emergency drop-off from either 23rd Avenue South and Children’s Way, or 24th Avenue South to Pierce Avenue eastbound.
The Children’s Hospital main entrance, street-level crosswalks and entrances to medical center clinics at 23rd Avenue South and Pierce Avenue will remain open. The second-floor sky bridge and walkways will remain open during the paving operation. Police officers and flagmen will be present to assist in directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic during this time.
